Location Settings

Enable location services on your device to allow signing into sites within the FacilitEase system. This guide covers all major platforms and browsers.

Overview

FacilitEase uses location services to verify technician presence at work sites for accurate time tracking and job management. Location access must be enabled on both your device's operating system and your web browser.

Required for Site Sign-In: Without location services enabled, you will not be able to sign into sites or record accurate arrival/departure times in the FacilitEase system.

iOS Location Services
iPhone and iPad

Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services

Make sure that Location Services is turned ON (toggle should be green)

Scroll down to find the Web Browser app you use (Safari, Chrome, etc.)

Tap the app and select one of the following options:

Never
Prevents access to Location Services information. Not recommended - site sign-in will not work.
Ask Next Time
Prompts you to choose "Always While Using App", "Allow Once", or "Don't Allow" each time location is needed.
While Using the App
Allows access to Location Services only when the app or one of its features is visible on the screen. Recommended option.
Always
Allows access to your location even when the app is in the background.

Recommended Setting: Select "While Using the App" for the best balance between functionality and privacy.

Android Location Services
Android 4.1 and later
Android 10 & 11 Latest

Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings

Touch and hold Location. If you don't see Location, tap Edit (Pencil icon) or Settings (Cogwheel) and drag Location into your Quick Settings.

To turn on location accuracy:

Tap Advanced Google > Location Accuracy

Turn Improve Location Accuracy on

Open your device's Settings app

Tap Security & Location > Location

If you have a work profile, tap Advanced

Choose an option:

Turn Location on or off
Tap Location to toggle.
Scan for nearby networks
Tap Advanced Scanning. Turn Wi-Fi scanning or Bluetooth scanning on or off.
Turn emergency location service on or off
Tap Advanced Google Emergency Location Service. Turn Emergency Location Service on or off.
Android 4.4 to 8.1

Open your phone's Settings app

Tap Security & Location > Location. If you don't see "Security & Location," tap Location.

Tap Mode. Then pick:

High accuracy
Use GPS, Wi-Fi, mobile networks, and sensors to get the most accurate location. Use Google Location Services to help estimate your phone's location faster and more accurately.
Battery saving
Use sources that use less battery, like Wi-Fi and mobile networks. Use Google Location Services to help estimate your phone's location faster and more accurately.
Device only
Use only GPS. Don't use Google Location Services to provide location information. This can estimate your phone's location more slowly and use more battery.
Android 4.1 to 4.3

Open your phone's Settings app

Under "Personal," tap Location access

At the top of the screen, turn Access to my location on or off

When location access is on, pick either or both of:

GPS satellites
Lets your phone estimate its location from satellite signals, like a GPS device in a car.
Wi-Fi & mobile network location
Lets your phone use Google Location Services to help estimate its location faster, with or without GPS.

When location access is off: Your phone can't find its precise location or share it with any apps.

Open Chrome and click the three-dotted menu in the top right-hand corner, then click Settings

On the Settings page, click Privacy and security from the left-hand menu, then click Site Settings

Scroll down and click Location under the Permissions section

Toggle the Ask before accessing (recommended) option to enable location services

Site-Specific Settings: To change the settings for a specific site, you can add exceptions in the Block or Allow lists on the Location settings page.

Safari Location Services
Mac

Click the Apple symbol in the upper left-hand corner, then click System Preferences

Click Security & Privacy

Click the Privacy tab at the top of the window

Click on the padlock in the bottom left-hand corner of the window. You will be asked to authenticate by entering your computer ID/password.

Once authenticated, check the box next to Enable Location Services, and ensure location services are enabled specifically for Safari in the app list

Lock Settings: After making changes, click the padlock again to prevent further changes and secure your privacy settings.

Microsoft Edge Location Services
Windows and Mac

Click the three-dotted menu located in the top right-hand corner of Microsoft Edge, then click Settings

On the settings page, click Site permissions from the left-hand menu, then click Location

Toggle the Ask before accessing (recommended) option to enable location services

Allowing/Blocking Specific Sites

You can also allow or block specific sites from accessing your location:

In the corner of the address bar, select the Lock, Info, or Dangerous icon and select Site permissions

Next to Location, choose Ask (default), Allow, or Block from the list

Troubleshooting

Location Not Working? If you've enabled location services but still experience issues, try the following steps:

Refresh the page - Sometimes browsers need a fresh load to request location permissions

Check both device AND browser settings - Location must be enabled at both levels

Clear browser cache - Old cached permissions can sometimes cause conflicts

Try a different browser - If one browser isn't working, test with another to isolate the issue

5

Restart your device - A restart can resolve many permission-related issues
